NBSTSA CST Exam Guide The NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination tests candidates on the knowledge and skills of entry-level Surgical Technologists and Surgical First Assistants in various settings. NBSTSA created the examination to assess the skills that make up the body of knowledge for all surgical technologists and surgical first assistants. The NBSTSA CST examination consists of 200 questions, 175 of which are scored.
