You don't connect to a computer AT ALL with the Pro-Link equipment, only to the vehicle's data port (6 pin or 9 pin deutsch connector on a commercial truck). The scanner shown in the above link takes the place of a PC or laptop, it alone operates the software and is where the cable is connected. The CARTRIDGE you already have fits onto the back of the scanner (Pro-Link 9000), the cable connects to the Pro-Link 9000 scanner and then to the truck. Again, no laptop or PC is used with this system, you can't. Used to what I saw 2 years ago was they connected a cable to the truck from a computer laptop and did a diagnosis such as checking the (speed control) up and down fast and slow and ecu, ecm etc. Your telling me that to do the same thing to make it go faster and make it go slower and do all the other things, all you need is this handheld? The Nexiq tool you mentioned in your first post was nothing more than a cartridge specifically for DDEC II/III engines. To use THAT TOOL (cartridge) you MUST also have the Pro-Link 9000 scanner and associated cables.

You can also get software DDDL (Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link) for a COMPUTER (PC or laptop), it's TOTALLY different than what you asked about first and you also need a cable and adapter to go between the computer and the vehicle. Either the DDDL or the prolink 9000 + DDEC II/III cartridge (plus cables) will allow you to modify road speed limits, cruise settings, read and clear codes, BUT the DDDL (software) is far more capeable than anything using Pro-Link. But for basics, either works.

There is no physical damage to report on any components. This was recently surplused by a government agency that used it to maintain their fleet of heavy-duty vehicles.

It comes with two cartridges, two PCMCIA cards, cables and some adapters. I connected the main unit to power (via the cigarette plug) and it powered on with both cartridges installed. Sold in working condition. Versions of the cartridges and cards are visible below.
